Overall standings

The lead changes hands yet again. Manuel Halkias is now on top!

Yesterday's leader Nicolaas van der Meer lost 8 points to fall back into the pack. Nicolaas was heavily victimized by the losses of Murray and Berdych, since they were his semifinalists. He also was burned for 2 points by the defeat of Schnyder.

Bill Walsh is still in second place where he is joined by Yoonho Ji.

Men's draw

Jasper van der Zwan takes the lead and opens it to 2 points! Great work by Jasper to lose nothing today by placing Davydenko, Gonzalez and Haas in the quarters (he had already lost points a while ago for putting Soderling in the fourth quarterfinal spot decided today).

Yesterday's leader Aaron Seong's day was more typical for most of us, as he lost 6 points from the losses of Blake, Berdych and Nalbandian.

The most crushing result of the day was 5th seed Blake, highly regarded as a possible finalist or semifinalist by many. Therefore, your Heartbreaker of the Day goes to

Fernando Gonzalez

Blake had come in with lots of support and momentum, having ended the year with a runner-up showing at the Masters in Shanghai, and begin this season with a title in Sydney. But "El Bombardero" Gonzalez had other ideas, and followed up his ouster of Hewitt with a straight set dismissal of Blake. The Chilean turned in another powerful performance with 18 aces and 52 winners. He will be a handful for anyone if this keeps up. And congratulations to the 7 contestants who placed Fernando in the quarterfinals.

The quarterfinals begin today, and our man Jasper will be hoping that the only unseeded quarterfinalist, Fish, does not spring a surprise on his buddy Roddick. Jasper is one of the few not to have picked Federer to win the title, having picked Roddick to go all the way.

Women's draw

Steve Antoniadis and Plib are still co-leaders! They both correctly forecast all of today's fourth round winners. Jack Cunniff unfortunately leaves the leading group as a result of his unsuccessful Li and Schnyder picks, and drops 2 points back.

We still have a race, with 4 prognosticators lurking right behind Steve and Plib.

Looking ahead at tomorrow's quarterfinals, Steve will be watching the Williams-Peer match closely, since he has a possible 2 points to lose with his finalist pick Williams. Plib has nothing at stake in that quarterfinal. But Plib could potentially lose 2 points from the other semifinal, whould Safarova continue her upset run against Vaidisova.
